I grew up in Oakland, CA, but fell in love with Washington when I moved to Seattle eight years ago. I attended University of Washington from 2008-2012, when I earned a BA in English Literature. I live in Fremont with my programmer husband. When I am not working as a nanny for three girls, I enjoy drinking coffee, reading mysteries and fantasy novels, watching horror and action movies, and travelling.
Interest and Experience in Education
I have been working with kids since college, and I look forward to becoming a full-fledged teacher. I believe that teachers have the unique power to guide young people toward becoming compassionate citizens of the world. Since graduating from college, I have worked and volunteered as a tutor, which allows me to work closely with a diverse range of students. I frequently work with first and second generation immigrants and have become acquainted with the unique academic challenges they face. I also have gained extensive experience working with young children as a nanny for two families, which lets me interact with children at various developmental stages. I am excited to become a certified secondary teacher with an endorsement in English Language Arts so I can share my love of literature, and maybe inspire them to love it too!
